Two Trevecca alumni were recently appointed to district superintendent roles within the Church of the Nazarene in Georgia and North Carolina.
Jason Caddy, who received a bachelor’s degree in youth ministry in 1995, was named superintendent of the North Carolina District. Stephen Rhoades, who received his bachelor’s in ministry in 1989, was named superintendent of the Georgia District. Both appointments were made by General Superintendent T. Scott Daniels in consultation with the Board of General Superintendents and the state district advisory councils. The appointments became effective on Feb. 1.
Jason Caddy
Caddy was appointed while serving as pastor of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Columbia, Tenn. He has served in pastoral ministry for more than 30 years, including lead pastor roles at churches in Nebraska, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. His podcast, “The Pastor’s Notebook,” seeks to encourage pastors and leaders to lead well in their churches and organizations.
Caddy and his wife, Tina, have been married for 31 years and have four children, two daughters-in-law and their first grandchild on the way. He loves spending time with his family, officiating high school athletics and playing golf.
“My prayer for this new role is that I can encourage pastors and churches to move toward wholeness and health by resourcing them to live on mission,” Caddy said. “Wholeness and health come as we passionately follow Jesus. A passionate faith leads us to live missionally for the sake of the kingdom. Ultimately, we all need encouragement in the middle of the journey. God is faithful, and our best days are ahead.”
Stephen Rhoades
Rhoades has pastored churches in Kentucky, Georgia, Indiana and most recently in Fort Myers, Florida. While in Indiana, he planted multiple congregations for the Burmese refugee community. After 17 years there, he went on to lead Anthem Church in Fort Myers, where his congregation helped start a church in Costa Rica. Anthem Church also partnered with multiple disaster relief foundations in response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian in 2022, raising more $1.5 million in hurricane relief.
Rhoades has been married to Regina Polly for 35 years, and the couple met as students at Trevecca. They have two adult children serving in ministry and three grandchildren.
"I want the Georgia District to be known for its strong pastoral care, practical resource sharing, and collaborative spirit of bringing people to Jesus, helping them become Christlike disciples, equipping them for ministry and sending them out to bless their communities,” Rhoades shared. “Whether serving in a rural community or urban center, leading historic congregations or a new church plant, I want our pastors and congregations to know that their ministry matters and that they are not alone."
